- Consistent termination quality
- Handles a wide variety of chip sizes
The Lontech Systems carrier plate is a patented, highly efficient method for capturing and orienting small chip components, preparing them for the termination and drying stages of chip production. These silicon rubber plates enable high-density loading of parts, supporting very high volume chip-processing operations.
Carrier plates are available in a variety of hole patterns and sizes tailored to the chip dimensions. Each plate is custom-fitted to ensure a secure hold on the loaded chips, ensuring tight termination widths and registration control. The uniform positioning of the chips in the pastes contributes to superior cosmetic appearance and quality.
Each plate can carry up to 7,370 parts and is capable of accommodating miniature parts, such as 0201 (0503 metric), using specialized small round hole patterns. High-volume handling of standard part sizes (such as 0603, 0805, etc.) is achieved with various round hole patterns.
Constructed from aluminum and silicon rubber, Lontech's extensive research with silicon rubber hybrids has led to plates with a useful life of over 3,000 termination and drying cycles, equivalent to over a million terminated chips for a plate with a 7,370 hole pattern. The rubber composition can withstand temperatures up to 200°C (392°F) during the oven-drying cycle. Optimal life and wear reduction are achieved with an operational temperature range of 150°C-165°C (302°F - 329°F) at the plate surface.
Maintenance of the plates is minimal, with cleanliness being the primary concern.
Lontech Systems carrier plates have been successfully used to handle a wide variety of chip components, including:
